THE TEXT OF THE INTERVIEW WITH THE WEEKLY “CHIARI WEEK” PUBLISHED ON 23 JANUARY 2015.
“When I paint people I try to capture their spirit and their colours”. She also loves to paint lotus flowers: they take root in sludge but grow to be beautiful.
TERRY BERTELLI, AN ALL-ROUND ARTIST: PAINTER AND NOW ALSO AUTHOR
Teresa Bertelli was born in Desenzano del Garda on 20 May 1974 and has worked as an insurance manager for 17 years. Her passion for painting began when she a young girl but she only started to paint professionally 18 months ago. A strong woman who is willing to fight to achieve her goals considering that she has never studied formally to “become an artist”.
Her talent has been acknowledged in the contests she has taken part in, coming up a winner. “When I paint people I try to capture their spirit and their colours” – she says – “I love to paint lotus flowers using the materials walls are made of because of their solidity.
Why did I choose this flower? Because it takes root in sludge and grows to be beautiful. It is a clear sign that, despite all the difficulties in life, we can all be born again and shine”. Florence, Naples, Vienna, Stuttgart, Brussels have all seen her works, to which she has given names in English linked to nature, exhibited.
“I decide to paint to have the possibility of sharing emotions through my work. I think it’s really important to try to communicate with art, because you can convey joy and life to others. Everything a person paints is a marvellous fantasy and we must always pursue what we love” – continues Teresa – “I love everything that is creative and I try to give form to what I see. I have been selected to take part in the Rome Biennial but I’m waiting for an answer from the Venice one”.
Besides painting she has another passion: writing. “I’ve decided to write a book which will represent a sort of metaphor regarding moods. A joyful book which can help people get back in touch with themselves” – says the painter – “we must remember that in everyone one of us there is light, despite the difficulties. I’m waiting for the answer from some publishers and it should be published this year”.
